Today it's Patch Tuesday and everyone's waiting for a big chunk of updates released by Microsoft to Windows computers across the world, but in the meantime, Adobe has pushed out an updated version of Flash Player that also comes with security improvements to its predecessor.

Adobe started rolling out updates for its software the same day as Microsoft last year, and since then, the company has kept releasing security improvements the second Tuesday of each month, thus trying to keep computers protected and address the most recent vulnerabilities found in its apps.

Flash Player, for instance, which was often described as one of the most vulnerable apps running on Windows, has received a new update today, but for the moment, no release notes are available.

Adobe has just updated its servers with Flash Player 18.0.0.232, so it's a little bit too early to discuss the changes, but since it's Patch Tuesday, it definitely includes security improvements and fixes for vulnerabilities that could expose our computers.

76 Flash Player vulnerabilities found in 2014

While the world's moving away from Flash Player, Adobe is really having a hard time keeping the software secure, with researches showing that tens of vulnerabilities are found every year in its software.

According to a report published by GFI, Adobe Flash Player was the fourth most vulnerable piece of software in 2014, after Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, and Mozilla Firefox. A total of 76 vulnerabilities were found in Flash Player, 65 of which were considered to have a high severity rating.

In most of the cases, Adobe patched them quickly, but Flash Player has continuously topped the vulnerability tables for the last few years, so it's no wonder that many are looking for alternatives right now.

In the meantime, you are strongly recommended to install the latest version as soon as possible, so go ahead and download Adobe Flash Player 18.0.0.232 now to keep your PC protected.
