14 DAY TRIAL // Square Enix has a bunch of RPGs in the pipeline this year starting with LIVE A LIVE, which is scheduled to arrive on July 22. Another highly anticipated action RPG coming from the Japanese publisher is Valkyrie Elysium. After its release date leaked early this week, Square Enix issued an official statement confirming the game will launch this fall.
Knowing Square Enix’s exceptional relationship with Sony, it’s no wonder the Valkyrie Elysium will first launch on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 on September 29. PC players will have to wait until November 11 to get the game on Steam, but two weeks is certainly not too long.
In addition, the Japanese publisher announced that a digital port of the PSP classic, Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth, will also be released on September 29 on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. There’s no mention of a PC launch, so we must assume that won’t be available for a while (or not at all).
Along with the release date of the games, Square Enix revealed that Valkyrie Elysium will be available as a physical and digital Standard Edition on PS5 and PS4, with a digital-only Standard Edition available on PC via Steam.
A Digital Deluxe Edition will also be available on all platforms. The PS4 and PS5 Digital Deluxe Editions will include 72-hour early access to the full game, in-game item “Svartaljr: Sword of the Goddess of the Underworld,” and a digital version of Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth (also available as a separate purchase).
On the other hand, the PC Digital Deluxe Edition of Valkyrie Elysium will only include the “Svartaljr: Sword of the Goddess of the Underworld” in-game item. Besides that, Square Enix announced players who pre-order the PlayStation version of the game will receive the “Alscir: Sword of the God of Light” in-game item and a Valkyrie Elysium avatar, while PC players will get 72-hour early access rights and some wallpapers.
Last but not least, those who purchase Valkyrie Elysium for PlayStation 4 can also download the PlayStation 5 version at no extra cost. Owners of a PS4 disc copy must insert it into the PS5 every time they want to download or play the PS5 digital version. For obvious reason, this doesn’t apply to those who want to play it on the PS5 Digital Edition disc-free console.
