Unveiled two years ago, Project Eve from Korean studio Shift Up, has just received a brand-new trailer that might leave weebs drooling. Beyond the acrobatic combat moves that the protagonist executes while fighting tentacular monsters, we can’t help to not notice the resemblance to Bayonetta.

The story is just as strange as the setting: in the not-too-distant future, mankind is expelled from Earth after losing the battle against invaders called NA:tives. The protagonist, Eve, is the survivor of the paratrooper squad deployed from the Colony.

As seen in the gameplay trailer, combat in Project Eve is exhilarating, deliberate, regardless of whether we’re talking about attack, defense or evasion. It’s also surprisingly fluid, at least from what we can see in the video.

Furthermore, the best way to survive in Project Eve is to anticipate your enemies’ attacks and punish them by countering their moves with precise timing. Parring and evading can lead to the ability to weave multiple combo skills, which typically results in huge amounts of damage.

Developer Shift Up revealed that it has taken advantage of the DualSense wireless controller’s haptic feedback to amplify the experience: “from the sensation of the blade slicing into the enemy to the exceptional skills that tingle your hands.”

Obviously, since this is an action-adventure game, there will be a lot of exploration, so players will have to master the terrain by scaling walls, sliding tactically, swinging on ropes, and more.

As the game progresses, players will be able to acquire new skills and items, which will make them even stronger. For example, some of the skills can be acquired by correctly executing parries and evades in combat.

From what we’ve seen in the video, Project Eve shapes up to be a heaven for weebs and a great hack-and-slash game at the same time. Unfortunately, we can’t tell you when it comes out, but know that Project Eve is set for release on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and PC.
