One of the most popular weather applications, AccuWeather has just received a big update that adds major visual changes and under-the-hood improvements.

According to developers, the application has been redesigned from ground up to comply with Google's Material Design. The customized new design features a clean and organized interface, which should make the user experience more intuitive and easier.

The latest version of AccuWeather comes with enhanced location management, enhanced performance in dynamic radar and satellite animation, as well as a new video experience for breaking weather and viral video content.

There's also a brand-new design for the application's “follow-me” widget that should provide instant, quick access to weather info while on the move.

AccuWeather developers also confirmed that the application has been optimized for both smartphones and tablets.

The most accurate precipitation forecast

One of the unique features offered by the application is the patented AccuWeather MinuteCast, which is the only global minute-by-minute precipitation forecast for a person's exact street address or GPS location.

Also, the application should provide more accurate weather information thanks to its Superior Accuracy feature. The new version of AccuWeather is now available to all Android users that have access to Google Play Store.

“We're excited to be one of the first major brands to implement Google's material design, which gives our users a beautifully designed app with a superior user experience.

“AccuWeather's proven digital expertise and innovation, combined with weather category leadership, make the AccuWeather app for Android the most trusted, most accurate Android weather app available to users,” said Steven Smith, president of Digital Media at AccuWeather.

If you don't have the application yet, you can now download AccuWeather for Android for free via Google Play store. The application should be fully compatible with all devices running Android 4.0 and up.
