Publisher Focus Home Interactive and developer Asobo Studio have just announced they are making it easier for gamers to assess their most recent game, A Plague Tale: Innocence, by allowing them to play the first chapter for free.

The free trial is available starting today on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC and allows players to experience the full first chapter of Hugo and Amicia's story. For more details on what to expect, you can watch the free trial trailer or read our full review of the game.

Those who decide to buy the game after playing the free trial will be able to do so at a discount. On Steam, A Plague Tale: Innocence will be part of the Focus Home Interactive publisher weekend, while Xbox players will be able to grab the game discounted as part of the Deals With Gold initiative.

Last but not least, PlayStation Plus subscribers in Europe will also get a discount as part of the Platinum Weekend. It's worth mentioning that these discounts will end on September 16, so make sure you play the game as soon as possible so that you can decide whether or not it's worth your time.

A Plague Tale: Innocence is an unusual medieval story about the Inquisition, which involves adventure, puzzle-solving, deadly combat, and stealth. Players take on the role of Amicia De Rune, a young girl who must protect her brother Hugo and herself from the deadly disease, swarm of rats, and armies of warriors and assassins.

The story is set during mid-1300 when a mysterious plague ravages the Kingdom of France. For unknown reasons, Amicia and Hugo are pursued by the Inquisition through villages devastated by the disease. To escape their pursuers, the protagonists will have to join forces with other children and evade swarms of rats using fire and light.
