Microsoft has just released a new Windows 11 build for users enrolled in the Beta channel of the Windows Insider program, and unsurprisingly, the focus is mostly on polishing the experience with the operating system.

This makes total sense given Windows 11 is just around the corner, with Microsoft also confirming that build 22000.194 also includes a bunch of modern updates for the apps coming pre-loaded with the OS.

“We are beginning to rollout updates for several apps that come included as part of Windows 11 to Windows Insiders in the Beta Channel. Today’s rollout includes the following app updates: Snipping Tool, Calculator, and Clock with Focus Sessions! Check for updates in the Store and try these apps out and let us know what you think!” Microsoft said in the release notes of today’s build.

Plenty of fixes

Other than that, the new build is all about fixes and improving the performance of Windows 11, with Microsoft explaining in the changelog that glitches causing BSODs during modern standby have also been addressed.

Microsoft has also confirmed that beta users could still struggle with more Taskbar and Start menu problems, as similar glitches have also been encountered in the previous builds.

It seems the whole thing might be caused by the latest cumulative updates, so Microsoft says you should just re-install the most recent updates.

“We’re investigating reports from Insiders in the Beta Channel where after upgrading to Windows 11, they are not seeing the new Taskbar and the Start menu doesn’t work. To workaround this if you are impacted, please try going to Windows Update > Update history, uninstalling the latest cumulative update for Windows, and the reinstall it by checking for updates,” the company explained in the changelog of the latest build for insiders in the beta channel.
