The size of a post-it, ZyXEL's new device will show up in a day or so

ZyXEL released routers before, but none were as small and yet still so versatile as the new MWR102, whose product photos definitely don't really suggest it is as small as they say.

New tech devices usually try to be small or wireless, with both these traits sometimes combined.

ZyXEL may have just set a new standard as far as this tendency goes, even if it is only on the market of networking devices.

What the company created is a very small router, small enough, in fact, that it can easily be carried around in a pocket.

Dubbed MWR102, it can handle connections to more than one wireless device at once, from big to small.

The list, thus, includes not just phones and tablets, (the devices most likely to be carried around wherever people happen to go) but also laptops and full-sized desktops.

ZyXEL already set up the official product page of the invention, located here (and definitely much bigger than the device itself).

Also, though it is not yet available, it will soon be, in a day or so in fact (October 27 this year, 2011, is given as the date).

For those who want a summary of the specifications, the newcomer handles multiple WiFi device through a single connection and can play the part of a wireless access point where WLAN coverage is week but wired access exists.

Power is delivered through a USB port, while dedicated LAN and WAN ports handle the rest.

As for getting it ready to go, the secure wireless connection is a simple enough thing to set up, thanks to how ZyXEL made sure to ship each and every one of these MWR102 routers with encryption enabled and a different default SSID.

Finally, the security key can, of course, be changed to whatever one so wishes.

UPDATE: Revized the article to include the correct name of the router.
