Wireless routers are becoming more and more widespread as technology advances, and ZyXEL figured it was time to try and offer performance and versatility at a level that can let it serve both consumers and the enterprise.

ZyXEL is known for selling various networking solutions, especially routers, its latest one having been unveiled only a day ago or so.

It is what one may see as a very high-quality and high-performance device which, nonetheless, does not take things to the utmost peak, since few are those that would benefit from the best of peak specifications.

Granted, purchasing the NBG5715, as it is called, will still set people back $250, but the product does have a solid feature set to make up for it.

The main point is the simple fact, or perhaps not so simple, that the product is not just any wireless router, but a dual-band one.

This means that it can go beyond the 2.4 GHz band (all the way to 5 GHz) when browsing the Internet, which, in turn, lets data transfers be made at 450 Mbps.

"We've assembled all the latest advancements in wireless and networking technology in our smartly designed NBG5715," said Steven Joe, executive vice president of channel business for Americas at ZyXEL.

"We are confident that the NBG5715 will please even the most discerning user with its form and function."

In addition to the base specs, ZyXEL went ahead and added a pair of NetUSB ports, so that both a printer and a storage device may be shared over the network.

What's more, the SmartRange technology finds wireless clients (laptops, tablets, etc.) and directly transmits data to them.

5 VPN tunnels for home office users exist as well, as do four Gigabit Ethernet ports and a web interface.
