Zuma's Revenge, the latest incarnation of the popular puzzle series from PopCap Games, has been confirmed to arrive on Mac next month. Zuma's Revenge is said to reinvent the immensely addictive game with high-resolution graphics, new game mechanics, new game modes and power-ups.

“The original Zuma has millions of fans around the world,” Jason Kapalka, co-founder and creative director at PopCap, said, “so there was a lot of pressure when doing the sequel to really deliver something they'd love, without wrecking the classic Zuma gameplay. Zuma's Revenge! adds a ton of variety to the mix, with over 60 new maps, all new power-up balls like the Laser Frog and Lightning Color Nuke, and a half dozen custom 'boss battles' against giant, evil tiki spirits. Plus we've added several new modes, including a speedy 'blitz'-style challenge game and the fearsome Iron Frog gauntlet for the most elite players.”

One of the game’s beta testers, Rick Fortin (who beat the game with 34 extra lives and a score of 3,384,820 points) has declared the upcoming Zuma a winner. “From the spectacular visuals and 3-D effects – which work great even on an older PC like mine – to the new game modes such as the maddening (but beatable!) Iron Frog, PopCap has actually improved the game in every respect,” he shared. “I have to say that the wait was well worth it for this game. It's all that I expected and much more!”

Fans of the franchise should check with PopCap.com and key portal partners on September 15 to download and play Zuma’s Revenge on Mac OS X. The title, which can also be found at retail, will be priced at US$19.95. Almost any Macintosh computer can run the 2D game, so there’s not concern about your system not being able to handle it. It’s players who have to be prepared for the title, going by its description. Additionally, true fans will also want to check out video sneak peeks at Zuma’s Revenge over at PopCap’s website.
