It seems that even though the GTX 570 is the most recent card to come out of NVIDIA's labs, its older sibling known as GTX 580 is still getting attention of its own, and Zotac even plans to make one with a custom design.

For those consumers that don't know, the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 580 is, currently, the strongest single-GPU video board on the market.

It was released back in early November and was immediately 'customized' by NVIDIA's various partners.

As far as real customization goes, however, one can say there is a real scarcity, since the various hardware makers did little besides taking the reference board and putting their stickers onto it, possibly throwing in some factory overcloking for good measure.

Now, Zotac is truly building a new card from the ground up, one that has a 16-phase power design and several other assets, like a custom, dual-fan cooler.

Some photos of the disassembled card were provided by the folks over at Expreview, revealing such things as 6-pin and an 8-pin PCI Express power connectors and multiple video outputs.

What stands out quite a bit is the presence of tantalum capacitors, which should boost stability and overclocking potential by a fair bit.

Zotac also seems to have given the card a DisplayPort output, an HDMI, two DVI connectors and support for SLI.

As for the cooler itself, it features two fans, as already said, with a diameter of 120 mm.

Unfortunately, no sort of information on the clock speeds or any other performance aspect of the upcoming product have been made public.

Also, as one would expect, there is no telling when the release will happen, nor is the price known.

Until these details become available, eager consumers may peruse the existing collection of GTX 580 models, like Zotac's own GTX 580 AMP! Edition.
