“Avatar” star for Eternal Magic fragrance

“Avatar” star Zoe Saldana has just graduated from actress to beauty icon, by signing a deal with Avon to become the spokesperson of the company’s latest fragrance. In doing so, Saldana treads in the footsteps of stars like Reese Witherspoon, Salma Hayek and Jennifer Hudson when it comes to endorsing a fragrance from the popular cosmetics maker and retailer, People magazine says.

It’s not uncommon for stars to endorse certain products, being known for a fact that many celebrities (the women in particular) make more money through various business partnerships of this type than by doing their own job. Avon, for one, has quite a tradition of choosing only the hottest female stars to promote and ultimately sell its perfumes, as was the case with the aforementioned actresses. Given the popularity of “Avatar,” Saldana was only the obvious next choice.

“Zoe Saldana, 31, has been named the newest face of an Avon fragrance, Eternal Magic, debuting in April, People has exclusively learned. The fragrance ‘takes inspiration from the rare Princess Monaco Rose,’ according to an Avon release. ‘It means so much to me to be associated with a company that shares my values and believes in empowering women,’ says the actress, who is now best known for kicking butt as Na’vi warrior princess Neytiri in Avatar,” People writes of the new partnership.

“We are thrilled to have Zoe as the spokesperson for Eternal Magic. Every woman wants to be unforgettable and Zoe perfectly embodies that feeling. She’s a rising star in Hollywood – and has built a strong reputation for playing empowering characters that leave a lasting impression,” Senior Vice President and President of Avon North America Geralyn Breig says for the same magazine.

The first ads of Saldana for Eternal Magic are already out: simple and very stylish, they play on the star’s youthfulness and beauty as the perfect representation for the new perfume. The actress will also be featured in Avon’s upcoming brochure as the face of the “color cosmetics collection,” People further informs.
