Indian OEM Zen has just announced that the Ultrafone 701 FHD smartphone is now available for purchase in India for only Rs 17,999 outright, which is about $290 or €210. Keep in mind that the device is only available in black color at launch.

Unlike the Ultrafone 701HD, which was launched in India back in April, the new device offers users the advantages of a full HD display.

More importantly, it brings dual-SIM (GSM / WCDMA) with Dual Standby support, as well as a decent 2050 mAh Li-Ion battery, which has yet to be rated by the manufacturer.

Zen Ultrafone 701 FHD is a high-end smartphone, but it is priced as a mid-range device. The handset ships with Android 4.2 Jelly Bean operating system out of the box and there’s no telling whether Zen will offer a major upgrade in the future.

On the inside, the smartphone comes equipped with a powerful 1.5 GHz quad-core processor probably delivered by MediaTek. In addition, the Ultrafone 701 FHD packs 1GB of RAM and 16GB of internal memory.

As fonearena points out, users will be able to expand storage up to 64GB thanks to the microSD card slot included. The 5-inch full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) capacitive touchscreen display features Corning Gorilla Glass coating for extra protection.

On the back, the smartphone boasts an impressive 13-megapixel photo snapper with LED flash, autofocus and full HD (1080p) video recording. Moreover, there’s also a secondary enhanced 8-megapixel front-facing camera for video calls and video capture.

Other highlights of the Zen Ultrafone 701 FHD include: FM Radio, Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi, GPS with A-GPS support, 3.5mm audio jack, as well as 3G HSPA+ connectivity.

On a side note, this is the second Android smartphone launched by Zen this month, after Ultrafone 502 qHD made its debut in India less than two weeks ago.
