14 DAY TRIAL // The PlayStation 3 has had a rough time lately, without the exclusives everybody was expecting, like Grand Theft Auto IV, or games which didn't rise up to the hype created around them, like Metal Gear Solid 4 (it didn't sell quite as Sony was hoping). So, that made them look for other opportunities of potential exclusive games for their console. One of the most recent announcements was made by Hungarian developer Zen Studios, which said that they are working on a PlayStation Network exclusive based on the Punisher comic book hero, which will be entitled The Punisher: No Mercy.
Originally developed by Marvel Comics, the Punisher tells the story of a rogue policeman: after his family was killed, he seeks revenge. Created as an antihero, he doesn't have any super power and just relies on his own power and weapons to get back on the bad guys. The people at Zen are already getting into the hype of the game and are really excited to be working on it.
“We’re calling the game The Punisher: No Mercy because that’s exactly what it is - merciless. For the first time on consoles, you’ll see the Marvel Universe through a first-person perspective in some intense arena-based multiplayer action. Also, the game is being built from the ground up with some serious tech - yes, we are using the Unreal Engine 3 (the ultimate FPS engine) for this exclusive PSN release. Our main focus is to create an awesome online multiplayer experience with the style and grit from the Punisher’s world, complete with characters like Jigsaw, Bushwacker, Barracuda and even Silver Sable” said Zsolt Kigyossy, head of Zen Studios.
That definitely sounds promising and let's hope they do a great job with it. I'm a big fan of the Punisher franchise and I'd really enjoy a game based on it.
