One of Hollywood’s most loved young couples, the “High School Music” sweethearts Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens, might be considering taking the relationship a step further, reports say. Zac has just proposed to Vanessa, and both are preparing for a big white wedding set to take place next summer, sources close to the two stars are telling the media.

There is a catch to Zac’s proposal, though, the same reports have it. According to a spy speaking to The National Enquirer, he only did it to please her mother, who was having a really hard time seeing her 20-year-old daughter living with a boy “out of wedlock.” However, that does not mean that Zac did not want to, the source assures, just that the first reason that prompted him to do it was his future mother-in-law.

“Zac is relieved to be out of the pressure cooker, because Vanessa’s mother has been putting serious heat on him to make an honest woman out of her daughter. She is old-school and doesn’t approve of Vanessa living with Zac without some type of wedding promise.” the spy says for the aforementioned publication. However, “Zac loves the current arrangement. He adores Vanessa and they gel really well together. Gina already considers Zac a part of the family. So she’s happy that he proposed.” the same spy assures.

Zac and Vanessa spend most of their time in her “six-bedroom Tuscan style mansion in Studio City, California – despite Zac spending $2.3million on his own modern, two-bedroom house in the Hollywood Hills last December,” the same insider reveals. It is believed that the 21-year-old actor, and one of the most successful young stars of the moment, popped the big question during a visit to Japan in January.

Until this rumor checks out, if at all, fans of the actor can expect to see him in a feature film based on the popular animated series “Jonny Quest,” where he would reportedly be joining Dwayne Johnson, also known as The Rock. Zac would, of course, take on the smart, fair-headed Jonny who, for the sake of the audiences, will be older than in the original series.
