The Mini Mobile Roboto is an inkjet printer that moves across a page

Normally, a printer uses some motors to drag a leaf of paper underneath an inkjet or laser writing device, but the new invention from ZUtA Labs does the opposite, because it's too small for the normal method.

And that was the entire point: to create a printer that you could take with you anywhere. Obviously, nothing large enough to print pages in the regular fashion would qualify.

So the mini Mobile Roboto Printer uses a pulley system to drag the print head across the sheet of paper instead (the omni-wheel system lets it turn in any direction).

The robot has a speed of 1.2 ppm and can write things in resolution of 96 x 192 dpi. You can use your tablet, laptop or even smartphone to command it.

The phone and tablet will need you to download a mobile companion app, but that's normal for things like this.

Bluetooth technology establishes the wireless connection, and it's possible to print 1,000 pages on a single battery charge (one hour of non-stop work).

All in all, not bad for an item that measures 10 x 11.5 centimeters / 3.93 x 0.45 inches (height x diameter) and weighs 300 grams / 0.66 pounds.

ZUtA Labs, a student-created startup from the Jerusalem College of Technology, asks for $200 / €73 in exchange for the Mini Mobile Roboto Printer.
