The company already has an Intel-based phone on shelves, the ZTE Grand X IN

Today, Chinese mobile phone maker ZTE has officially confirmed a partnership with Intel for the launch of smartphones that would pack the new Intel Atom Processor Z2580 platform inside.

According to the company, the inclusion of this CPU inside its future smartphones is expected to result in increased performance levels delivered to its users.

“The collaboration with Intel is an important part of ZTE’s strategy for product development, both in terms of time-to-market and in providing customers’ with a great handset experience,” the company announced.

At the moment, ZTE is working on the development of unique smartphones featuring the aforementioned platform inside, which packs a dual-core processor, Intel Hyper-Threading Technology, and increased performance capabilities.

Furthermore, the platform is said to deliver up to 3 times better graphics capabilities over the previous Atom processors, while offering the same battery life.

The partnership with Intel builds on the previous agreement that resulted in the launch of ZTE Grand X IN, the very first ZTE smartphone to sport an Intel processor inside.

The Chinese phone maker also notes that the ZTE Grand X IN was a best seller in Austria last year, and that it has already been launched in Germany, Poland, Hungary, Romania, Serbia, Macedonia, Slovakia, Moldova, Greece, Sweden and Norway. Soon, the Android device is set to hit shelves in France.

“The Grand X IN was ZTE’s first flagship smartphone in Europe to feature Intel Inside. We’ve launched it successfully across Europe in strong cooperation with Intel, and as a result have significantly increased our brand awareness in these important markets,” said Mr. Ao Wen, General Manager of ZTE Europe Mobile Devices.
