Kodiak Networks and ZTE Corp. have announced the signing of a worldwide licensing and strategic marketing agreement under which ZTE will feature Kodiak's integrated mobile applications on multiple UMTS devices, including ruggedized handsets.

Through the licensing agreement, ZTE will be able to integrate the embedded client with 3G handsets for enterprise, professional and field workforce markets.

ZTE and Kodiak will be integrating several applications into the devices including mobile conference that allows immediate dialout of full-duplex mobile conference calls, group sms that enables the users to send text messages to individuals or groups and PTT Presence that displays icons indicating the availability to receive calls or status of other users.

Push to Talk will provide users with an instant 1:1 group calling communication option with fast call-setup times while Voice notes will allow users to leave instant voicemail messages from Kodiak-enabled PTT phones to contacts or groups without ringing the recipient's phone.

Other applications include Convert to Cellular to convert a PTT conversation to a full-duplex conference call and Call Me Alerts that enhance the efficiency of Push to Talk calling by allowing users to send an alert to other users to request a voice conversation.

"Kodiak Networks and ZTE have forged a strong relationship to supply wireless operators with a wide range of devices spanning a variety of price points, form factors, and functionality," said Timothy Hall, Vice President of Strategic Alliances, Kodiak Networks. "Going forward, Kodiak will support ZTE in meeting the needs of wireless device customers requiring advanced group communications capabilities and sustainable handset performance, especially under environmentally challenging conditions."
