ZTE will unveil its next flagship towards the end of March

Apart from Samsung and HTC, not many device manufacturers decided to launch their flagship phones during the big MWC 2015 event. Huawei abstained from it, and so did Lenovo, ZTE or LG.

Now, it appears that ZTE has been confirmed to announce its next flagship smartphone, the Nubia Z9, on March 26.

Rumors about the handset have popped up before, so we have a pretty good idea of what to expect from ZTE’s upcoming phone.

Possible ZTE Nubia Z9 appears in benchmarks

Well, this week, the Z9 handset has been spotted making an appearance in AnTuTu and revealed most of its specs in the process.

The handset appeared online code-named NX510J, and according to the filing, ZTE’s upcoming flagship will arrive with a 5.2-inch display with 1920 x 1080 pixel resolution and 424ppi.

This goes against previous information that suggested that the Nubia Z9 would arrive with a 5.5-inch Quad HD screen (2560 x 1440 pixel resolution).

Moving along, the AnTuTu listing reveals that the phone will be powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor fitted with 3GB of RAM.

On top of that, the device seems to be taking advantage of a 16MP frontal camera plus an 8MP selfie snapper up in front. The phone will run Android 5.0.2 Lollipop out of the box.

Previous rumors indicated that the main shooter on the phone would be of a 20MP capacity, but it seems this will not be the case.

Could this actually be the Nubia Z9 mini?

Judging by the outlined specs, we should point out that this particular model might actually turn out to be the Nubia Z9 mini or Z9 Max.

ZTE usually releases three new devices per cycle. The previous Z7 lineup consisted of the Z7, Z7 Mini and Z7 Max.

The Z7 took advantage of a 5.5-inch display, so maybe the NX510J is actually the Z9 Mini. The Z7 also brought about a QHD panel, and like previous rumors have shown, the Z9 should also take advantage of this standard. Unless ZTE has decided against using QHD panels, but this is highly unlikely.

As we approach the March 26 event, more information about ZTE’s upcoming Nubia Z9 phone will probably leak online and help us make sense of things.
