ZTE’s newest flagship will sell for a pretty expensive price

ZTE’s Nubia Z9 flagship has been leaking online for so long that we almost lost hope that the company will ever introduce the exciting smartphone, but the day has finally come.

During an impressive press event in Beijing, the Chinese company has finally pulled the veil off the bezeless smartphone, which will be offered in three different versions.

All three models share the same basic specifications, which means they all arrive with a 5.2-inch 1080p display (no QHD resolution here, sorry) and a remarkably thin 0.8 mm / 0.031-inch bezel that has been designed to reflect the content on-screen in such a way as to give the illusion of a bezeless appearance (as reported by Giz China).

The ZTE Nubia Z9 boasts a glass and alloy body measuring 147.38 x 68.34 x 8.94 mm / 5.8 x 2.6 x 0.35 inches.

ZTE jumps on the Snapdragon 810 bandwagon

The new phone takes advantage of a Snapdragon 810 processor, but RAM storage varies depending on model. Things are quite interesting in the photo department too, where we find a 16MP main shooter with f/2.0 aperture and OIS (optical image stabilization) and a Sony 8MP camera unit with 80 degree lens up in front.

The latest version of ZTE’s Nubia UI 3.0 adds advanced camera features, including NeoVision 5.1, which apparently should be able to deliver near SLR performance.

The phones are kept alive by a 2,900 mAh battery which should bestow a long enough usage period given that there’s only a FHD panel to sustain.

ZTE uses the services of NeoSound 4.0 and AKM4961 Hi-Fi processor plus Dolby 7.1 surround to offer quality audio on the phone.

The new ZTE phone's entire body is touch sensitive

However, the most interesting part about the ZTE Nubia Z9 comes now. The phone has a FIT interactive frame, which means the device’s body is touch sensitive and reacts to gesture controls. And as you can see in the GIFs below, the system is shown taking screenshots, adjusting brightness and turning the camera on.

More than that, ZTE is also utilizing the TIO patented fingerprint technology with its latest flagship, and while details about how the setup works are pretty sketchy, it’s quite likely that TIO has been implemented within the power and volume rocker, so the fingerprint can be scanned in either location.

ZTE will be selling the phone in three versions. The Classic one with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage goes on sale for $563 / €495, while the Elite edition with 4GB of RAM and 64GB storage sells for $644 / €567.

Last but not lest comes the Exclusive edition with 4GB of RAM and 64GB memory, which will be available for $725 / €641. As you can see, neither version comes very cheap, so will ZTE manage to persuade customers to buy its new phone?
