Chinese handset maker ZTE and UK-based carrier Virgin Media have teamed up once again to offer customers in the UK the affordable Blade Q Mini smartphone.

Pocket-lint reports that those looking for a budget-friendly Android smartphone can grab the ZTE Blade Q Mini for only £60 / €70 / $100. Keep in mind that Virgin Media is the only carrier that will offer the handsets in the UK.

The smartphone is likely to arrive at Argos stores first, soon followed by Sainsbury. The Blade Q Mini will be locked to Virginia Media network, so keep that in mind before making your purchase.

ZTE Blade Q Mini ships with Android 4.2 Jelly Bean operating system out of the box, which is not that bad considering the phone’s low price.

Furthermore, the device is equipped with a dual-core MediaTek MT6572 processor (Cortex A7) clocked at 1.3GHz, a Mali-400 graphics processing unit and 1GB of RAM.

There are 4GB of storage inside, but users will be able to further expand internal memory up to 32GB via microSD memory card.

The Blade Q Mini sports a decent 4-inch capacitive touchscreen display that supports 480 x 800 pixels resolution. On the back, the phone packs a 5-megapixel photo snapper with autofocus, LED flash and video recording. No secondary camera has been included.

When it comes to connectivity, ZTE Blade Q Mini offers quite a lot of options, including HSDPA (21Mbps), HSUPA, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.0, as well as microUSB and GPS with A-GPS support.

“The popular Blade ZTE handsets are ideal for people who want powerful smartphones on unrivalled packages that include loads of minutes, data and texts for their money. The Blade series has been a strong performer in Virgin Media's handset portfolio, so the Blade Q Mini is sure to be a natural fit,” said Virgin Media Mobile Director Jamie Heywood.
