Worldwide leading provider of telecommunications equipment ZTE Corporation announced recently that its mobile phones would become available in the UK, Ireland and Sweden on the airwaves of wireless service provider 3. At the same time, the company also stated that its agreement with 3 Scandinavia enabled it for the first time to offer its handsets on the Swedish market.

The first mobile phone that will come to the UK, Ireland and Sweden via 3 will be ZTE F102, the company said. What this device is set to deliver to users in those three markets includes 3G and tri-band GSM connectivity options, as well as a 2.0-megapixel photo snapper, an MP3 player, Bluetooth and USB connectivity, and a MicroSD memory card slot for additional storage space. Moreover, users will also enjoy social networking connectivity through Skype and Windows Live Messenger, ZTE noted.

ZTE has helped us to develop and expand our range of PAYG handsets in the UK, bringing high specification, stylish devices to a wide audience. This has helped us to meet consumer demand for mobile internet services on low cost tariffs,” David Moore, product manager at 3, commented on the announcement.

The new F102 is the fifth handset ZTE delivers to the UK market, and is said to be aimed at the same market segment as its previous models. Users in the country will be able to purchase it through 3 and various retailers on the market. The ZTE phones will become available in Sweden through the consumer electronics chain Media Market exclusively at first, yet they will also come to 3's stores and other retailers before the end of the year.

“The UK, Ireland and Scandinavia are very desirable markets for us and have opened up a wealth of opportunities of which we have been taking full advantage. Starting with 3UK, 3 Ireland and 3 Scandinavia, ZTE is fully geared to support H3G's global business and other operators. We aim to become one of the top five handset developers worldwide by 2011 and our goals are clearly in sight,” said Tony Brunt, ZTE UK sales director looking after H3G Global.
