Some people are so discontent with Apple’s storage options that they’ve dragged the company to court. Others prefer to consider this a normality, and take matters into their own hands to expand their storage capacity.

If that’s you, then you’ll probably want to hear about the upcoming external storage solution from Leef. Dubbed iBRIDGE, this compact dongle can turn your iDevice into a server-grade storage medium.

Up to 384GB of storage for your iDevice

iPhone 6 comes with the option to have 128GB of on-board storage, for a few extra bills, of course. But even that’s not enough for photography aficionados, and people who pull out their iDevices to shoot video every day. Couple the high-end 256GB iBRIDGE with the high-end 128GB iPhone 6, and you get a whopping 384GB of storage to take with you anywhere.

You can use the iBRIDGE to back up your Camera Roll automatically and quickly move videos and photos off their phone, stream the content directly via the free iBRIDGE app (coming soon to the App Store), store photos and videos directly to the drive as you shoot, and share everything easily with others (also via the app).

A built-in USB connector lets you offload all your media onto a Mac or PC, and the device is said to use minimum amounts of power: “backing-up 500 photos to your Leef iBRIDGE uses less than 1% of your iPhone battery life,” according to Leef. The device will be compatible with iOS 7 and iOS 8 devices, including iPhones, iPads, and iPod touch players.

Leef plans to sell the dongle in 16GB, 32GB, 64GB, 128GB and 256GB capacities starting at $59.99 (€50.27) for the low-end model. It will be showcased at the Leef booth at the 2015 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) starting tomorrow.
