Bomb hoax video useful to police

In a long continuous string of "things that people who have done something bad and consider themselves untouchable because they didn't get caught doing it" happenings, here's the latest: yesterday an AIDS fundraiser was cancelled and a huge part of a street was blocked after a bomb was spotted. It turned out to be a sick joke, but it was backed with a video of two people who are seen entering the Royal Ontario Museum (the place of the presumed bombing attempt) and faking an explosion.

The police were alerted at first by a suspicious package that was found inside the facility's front doors at about 6 PM on Wednesday, just hours before the fundraiser was scheduled. Full tactical precaution was advised and used as the bomb disposal robot was brought in to do the job but the package turned out to be harmless. "We found a number of wooden dowels that were made to look like a bomb. There were some wires in there and a battery and a motherboard", described Toronto Police Insp. Mario DiTomasso. The video, posted hours after the alarm had been triggered, has a full frontal picture of one of the two involved and the police are currently hoping to identify him and find out who was the second, the one who held the camera.

CityNews.ca reports that "representatives for the 11th annual Canadian Foundation for AIDS Research (CANFAR) gala are now looking at rescheduling their event after they were forced to cut it short for the police investigation. "It's kind of a very sad day for us", admitted Elissa Beckett, CANFAR's executive director. "We're lucky because our sponsors have been so supportive, and all the dinners guests have been very, very understanding." Anyone that has information on the hoax is asked politely to call Crime Stoppers and provide it in order to cut down the time needed for solving the whole case.
