YouTube signed a deal with the Major League Soccer that will create a new channel on the online video sharing service to provide sports clips. The US soccer league's YouTube dedicated channel will provide instant access to video highlights, player interviews and end of the game clips. According to PaddockTalk, the Major League Soccer has the ability to remove or share a clip for a certain period of time as the online video sharing service wants to allow its partners to control their copyrighted movies.

"The worldwide exposure provided by YouTube provides a tremendous opportunity for Major League Soccer to extend our footprint in the new media landscape," said Mark Abbott, president of Major League Soccer according to PaddockTalk. "This is a platform that our fans requested, and we are excited to join forces with such an innovative company."

As you might know, soccer is one of the most popular sports in the entire world so it's obvious that this kind of clips attracts an important number of visitors. "Soccer has one of the most loyal and passionate fan bases in the world and we are excited to work with MLS to provide fans on YouTube with compelling new content," said Jordan Hoffner, head of premium content partnerships as the same source reported. "Today's agreement is yet another example of how major sports leagues are embracing YouTube as a means for distribution."

In the past, the parent company Google made several agreements with sports videos providers, all of them being meant to boost the number of visitors and enhance this type of content. The first company that partnered with YouTube was Chelsea FC, the well known football club. Then, Google's video service lured NBA, the basketball association that provides almost the same content as MLS: videos, interviews and latest news about the matches.
