YouTube, the online video sharing owned by Google, is now publishing videos to support the Virginia massacre victims after numerous users decided to upload clips meant to bring a tribute to their families. According to Courant, a lot of users designed their own videos and uploaded them on the official page of the online video sharing service to honor the victims of the attack. Some of the clips were recorded by the school's students while most of them were made by ordinary users looking to encourage the victims of the attack. Although it shows its support for the families, YouTube attracts more user generated content that boosted the website's traffic just after the Viacom removal.

"Most of these tributes are every bit as good as the montages spliced together by the 24/7 news channels but are free from the hint of exploitation that sometimes accompanies saturation news coverage. Many of these clips were made by people in other parts of the country and are accompanied by messages offering support. Others were made by people very close to the school. One incorporates home video of memorial services and vigils but most rely on images cobbled from various news organizations," the same publication reported.

This is not the first time when YouTube supports the community because a woman fighting against leukemia published some time ago a clip to require users' help. According to the video, the woman was urgently needing a bone marrow donor and uploaded a video on YouTube to promote her only chance to survive. A matching person was found in Denmark after the clip recorded thousand of views and numerous comments posted by other members to encourage the victim of the disease.
