The recently introduced comedians contest The Sketchies is available only for the US residents as YouTube was not able to set up the rules for the members from all over the world. According to Sara from YouTube, numerous users contact the online video sharing service demanding an expansion of the contest to make it available in the entire world. However, this is not possible and the comedy competition remains open only to the US residents.

"We understand that some of you are disappointed that our comedy contest, the Sketchies, is only open to U.S. residents. We wish we could include everyone, but many countries have different laws about running contests and we weren't able to make a contest with rules that are fair and work the same for everyone around the world. That said, we hope to have other opportunities for international users in the future, and we plan on taking a close look at some of the international entries for possible featuring in the Comedy section or even on our home page," the YouTube employee said.

A few days ago, YouTube introduced The Sketchies, an exciting contest that encourages users to upload their own comedy clips and share them with the entire world. The first place receives some attractive prizes such as a contract with Sierra Mist for a comedy short, a 2 persons trip in The Lonely Island, a Panasonic camcorder and some other cool things.

All you need to do is to create your own funny clip, having at least 3 minutes, and upload it on the online video sharing service page. The entire contest is based on 3 rounds, each clip being analyzed by a team of Hollywood experts. If you want more information about the competition starting on May 24, you can visit its official page available on this link.
