Mary Bale, the woman caught by a CCTV camera petting a cat and then throwing it in a wheelie trash bin, is apologizing “profusely” for her gesture – but still doesn’t understand what she did wrong.

Following severe criticism in the media and even direct death threats, Bale has decided to break her silence and openly talk about the incident – and offer an apology for it as well.

As we also reported the other day, Bale is now being investigated by the RSPCA for having thrown the cat in the trash bin, where it remained for no less than 15 hours, until her owners saw the footage and realized what had happened to her.

The outrage against Bale was sparked not so much by her gesture, as by the fact that the footage seems to make it clear she did it out of pure malice, even looking furtively to the sides to see if anyone was looking at her.

She may have even stopped to pet the cat for the sole reason of inflicting harm on her, it is being said. The video embedded at the end of the article will shed more light on the accusations brought to her.

Outside her home in Coventry, Bale apologized officially for her behavior, but still failed to make matters quiet down, since she insisted she still didn’t understand what the “fuss” was all about, says the Daily Mail.

“I want to take this opportunity to apologize profusely for the upset and distress that my actions have caused,” Bale told the media outside her home the other day.

Clearly, words can’t even express how sorry she is or, for that matter, what may have prompted her to act this way, going very much against her nature.

“I cannot explain why I did this, it is completely out of character and I certainly did not intend to cause any distress to Lola or her owners. It was a split second of misjudgment that has got completely out of control,” the woman explained.

Regardless of the damage she may have done, reaction to her gesture is completely exaggerated, she continues to believe. “I don’t know what the fuss is about. It’s just a cat,” she added.

In saying “it’s just a cat” when referring to animal lovers’ reaction to her gesture, Bale reiterates what she was telling The Sun shortly after footage of her went online, as we also reported.

At the request of the cat’s owners, who asked for people’s help in identifying the woman in the video, The Sun offered a helping hand and actually managed to find out who she was – and, of course, secure a first interview with her.
