Joost has always been described as a potential YouTube killer because it aims to steal all the Internet consumers looking for online videos and bring them to its platform. In fact, Joost is pretty different from YouTube because the users have to download the application in order to access the service while Google's video sharing technology can be accessed from the web browser. However, since Joost was released as a private beta, a lot of consumers were interested in the service and tried to get an invitation in order to try it. Today, you're no longer required to have an invitation to create an account so you can download it and enjoy the clips right now.

In case you never tried Joost, you should because it's like you would bring the traditional television on your computer. The only difference is that you can choose from an impressive number of channels which are downloaded from the Internet. And all these for free!

"Haven't been able to score an invite? Now it doesn't matter! Everyone can enjoy a ballooning selection of comedy, music videos, documentaries, movies and the latest hits from some of your favorite media brands, including CBS, Major League Baseball, MTV, Turner, Comedy Central and more - over 15,000 shows to date. So if you're one of the mere 6.5 billion who have not received a Joost invite, prepare to be entertained. Really nice to meet you," the Joost developers introduced the public beta application today.

The application remains in the beta stages, the only difference from the previous versions being represented by the free availability, no invitation being required anymore.

"Joost is still Beta software - there's a lot more work to be done before we're satisfied, and yes, you may find a bug or two. Please, please let us know if you do - we are grateful to all those who have and continue to let us know when they find problems."
