Google has made it official, it's now offering Blogger users the option of switching over to a Google+ profile to replace their existing Blogger profiles. This is just for the Draft version of the site, which is sort of a Beta version, and users can switch back at any time.

The plan going forward is to offer more integration between Google+ and Blogger and there are already a few benefits to switching over.

"Today we’re excited to announce the first way you will be able to leverage Google+ -- by making it possible to replace your Blogger profile with your Google+ profile," Vardhman Jain, Software Engineer at Google, wrote.

"In addition to giving your readers a more robust and familiar sense of who you are, your social connections will see your posts in their Google search results with an annotation that you've shared the post," the announcement explained.

For now, the option is only available to Blogger in Draft users. They should get a notification about the possibility of upgrading to a Google+ profile, but you can use this link to upgrade directly.

At this point, all it does is replace your Blogger profile page, associated to all of your blogs, with your Google+ profile. Your blog post will also be linked to your Google+ profile in Google search results.

You can expect Google to introduce more features based on the integration in the future.

"This option is available for all users today in our testing ground, Blogger in Draft, and will be accessible from www.blogger.com in the coming weeks," Blogger explained.

Thankfully, the switch to a Google+ profile is completely optional. So if you use a pseudonym or just don't want your blogs to be linked to your Google+ profile, there's no pressure.

Even if you do make the switch, if you decide at any time that you want your old Blogger profile back, you can switch back.
