We the Builders will make a life-size replica of the Founding Father

Ben Franklin still shows up on the USA's $100 dollar bills and has a host of parks, schools, museums, and libraries named after him. Not surprising, given his status as one of the United States' Founding Fathers.

Soon, he will have a life-size bust on display at various 3D printing shows around the world, if the people at We the Builders have their way.

You see, they have proposed a challenge to anyone willing: if you're willing to visit the website and register, you will get a four-inch piece of the bust to print.

After the print is done, you have to take a photo of it and send it over to the website. If it is deemed good enough, the contributor can mail the print itself to the team in Baltimore.

Once all the 198 pieces have been selected and gathered, the team will then put the bust together. They hope to do this by September 1, in time for the Silver Spring and World Maker fairs.

Not something likely to attract people outside the USA, but it's not like the States are lacking in eligible population. Now we just have to see if their goal to get this done in a single month comes to fruition. Mailing mishaps can always happen after all.
