Assuming you actually have a 3D printer, you only need raw materials

Hardware usually relies on integrated circuits that need specialized factory equipment to be made properly, but we might be looking at the first step beyond these limitations.

Designer J.C. Karich has just demonstrated how to 3D print a pair of headphones.

Sure, you'll need to download some open source designs, and actually own a 3D printer (or have access to one), but still, you can make it yourself.

Karich made the speakers by coiling copper wire around a groove built into the printed casing (the main piece that is 3D printed).

Wrapping wire around a delicately printed plug yielded the audio connectors, and wiring up a fabric connector from fabrick.it made the cord.

The designs are available on Thingiverse, but can also be accessed through Yanko Design website. They are available for free.
