CD only? Man, that's so yesterday!

This piece of news is rather hilarious: Teac, the great name spearheading audio technology for such a long time, releases a CD player! Indeed, we're not talking about DVD or god-knows what kind of futuresque technology...it's CD!

Despite the neat gear and nifty looks and the iPod dock, the Teac CD-X10i is late; some 10 year late I'd say. Maybe such gear would have really rocked a decade ago, even without the iPod stuff: nice 2.1 flat-panel speakers and a separate subwoofer for a really rich sonic experience, adding class and serious style to any home d?cor. It's just that the CD player has really nothing to do with what's happening in the tech world.

This pretty sound system sports quite an appealing look and packs quite handy technologies such as a terrestrial FM radio tuner, sleep timer and a most useful alarm clock. The Teac CD-X10i could have been one of the coolest gifts for a tech enthusiast if it wasn't for the CD-thing.

Funny how the hyper-popular iPod was caught in the design-plans of this sound system while the DVD was not: indeed, you can enjoy the music from your portable digital media player but when it comes to DVD storage, things come to a halt. As well, funny how the Teac CD-X10i has no wireless capability that could have made for the lack of DVD support... quite weird for Teac, especially as this sound system comes with a price for which other brands offer you way more connectivity.

The Teac CD-X10i comes with a remote control and can crank up to 5W per channel and as much as 15W for the subwoofer, quite enough for a waking blast in the morning! The Teac CD-X10i sells for approximately $240 but it's not sure whether it will leave Japan.
