Kingston Technology Company announced the release of its latest flash drive, named Kingston DataTraveler 100. It comes with a capless design, the USB connector is housed inside the flash stick's casing to keep it secure from dust, dirt and accidental bending. To extend or retract the USB connector, a new "thumb-action" slide was positioned as the side of the drive. This make the retracting and protracting the USB connector, a simple, single-hand operation.

The new DataTraveler 100 offers style, function and affordability as it comes with a basic design and no bundled software or password and native encryption support. DataTraveler 100 comes in many formats, with capacities ranging from 1GB up to 8GB of unformatted storage space. Because of its inherent simplicity, DT 100 is the ideal USB flash memory based drive for users who need to quickly transfer and share files or perform backups of important files and who do not want to invest into a dedicated backup solution.

"The DataTraveler 100's new thumb-action, retractable design reduces the drive's overall size, which allows for easy and unobtrusive transport in a pocket or attached to a keychain," said Joe Teng, Flash product manager, Kingston Technology Company. "With 1, 2, 4 and 8GB capacities available, the DT 100 is the perfect solution for storing image files and documents," Teng added.

Kingston's DataTraveler 100 is fully compatible with Microsoft Windows Vista, XP and 2000, as well Mac OS 10.x and Linux. In addition, the flash drive is fully compliant with the high speed USB standard 2.0, allowing for a fast and convenient data and file transfer connection with any USB supporting computer. Just like all other Kingston flash based drives products, DT 100 comes with a standard five-year warranty period.
