Small, smaller, the smallest

More and more people want smaller hardware, easier to carry and to use. First came the Mac Mini, then the alternatives from Intel, AOpen and others. It seems that this is becoming a trend, so Japanese producers began launching their own versions of mini PCs.

Millinux comes as an alternative for non techie users or could be ideal for a home server. The new mini PC from PDX features a VIA C3/Eden processor, available in two models, an 800MHz and a 1GHz one. The computer comes with 256 MB of RAM that can be expanded to 512 MB. The hard drive is quite small, 20 GB, and has no expansion capability. The graphics board is a S3 Savage4 2D/3D, good enough for rendering generic graphics. The sound is managed by the on board AC'97 Sound. As for the connectivity, Realtek RTL8139 does its job.

Millinux mini PC also has two USB 1.1 slots and a VGA connector. The computer dimensions are of only 163(W) ?43(H) ?163(D).

We must say that Millinux is only a basic computer and couldn't replace a desktop computer as its Apple or Intel counterparts can. Millinux doesn't feature an optical unit, not even a simple CD-ROM. Also, it lacks a large enough hard disk, wireless compatibility and Bluetooth support.
