One thing we've learned on Microsoft since last October is that the company can provide Windows Phone users with small updates, with three of them already on devices out there, prepping the way to Mango, the next Major version of Windows Phone.

However, it seems that this is only the beginning and that, just as promised last year, Windows Phone will taste more small updates, set to arrive on devices in between major versions of the OS.

Each year, Microsoft plans a new flavor of Windows Phone for its users, a recently spotted job listing shows.

And the said smaller updates will be included into the mix as well, the said job ad shows. Just what users were missing was the already dead and buried Windows Mobile platform.

“This Senior Program Manager position will be the CXE Feature PM that drives all development work on the Application Platform for update releases between major yearly releases,” the said job listing at Microsoft reads.

“You will work closely with the Application Platform team who is working on major yearly releases and with the best technologies/teams across the company (e.g. Silverlight, XNA, .NET Compact Framework).”

Of course, this does not come too much as a surprise, since the company already promised that new software updates will be delivered to Windows Phone users more often than before.

However, it does offer a better understanding of Microsoft's plans for the platform, and also unveils that we're to see a new major Windows Phone release each year.

Microsoft promised a major shift of perspective on mobile with the release of Windows Phone last year, and it seems that they are committed to following the same path in the future as well.

Microsoft's new approach towards mobile marks not only a change from Windows Mobile, but also a new vision when compared to what rival solutions have to offer.

“We aren’t just building a me-too iPhone or Android competitor; we’re changing the way customers use and experience their device,” the job ad reads.
