Following reports of 19 tragic deaths by fire department agents in the Yarnell, Arizona fire, news emerges that the town has been practically destroyed.

Roughly 250 buildings in Yarnell have suffered structural damage. The number includes sheds, schools, business complexes and residents' homes, ABC 15 reports.

According to Incident Commander Mike Reichling, the fire is headed for Peeples Valley, but there are no reports of damage to the small town as of yet. It has spread from a 2,000-acre (809-hectares) to a 6,000-acre (2427-hectare) area in one day.

“This fire was very radical in its behavior, the fuels were very dry, the relative humidity was low, the wind was coming out of the south, it turned around on us because of monsoon action this afternoon,” Incident Commander Reichling describes.
