Microsoft has only managed the fourth position in the top 50 online properties in April 2007 in the United States. With a total of 115,605,000 unique visitors, Microsoft is trailing Yahoo and Google, according to data made public by metrics analysis firm comScore. Still, comScore Media Metrix revealed an interesting aspect: CareerBuilder, a website that was the focal point of a new search agreement and a minority stake acquisition of Microsoft ranked 28 among the top 50 web properties. The 20,750,000 unique visitors of CareerBuilder will no doubt contribute in the future to the evolution of Microsoft's position.

"April's Top 50 Properties saw Yahoo! Sites and Time Warner Network claim the top two positions once again. Google Sites, Fox Interactive Media, and Wikipedia Sites all gained one spot within the top ten to positions three, five, and seven, respectively. ARTISTdirect Network moved up nine positions to number 41, attracting 15 percent more unique visitors than last month. Shopzilla Sites gained eight spots to grab the number 32 position in April, while Facebook enjoyed a 10-percent increase to claim the 22nd spot in the rankings," revealed comScore in a press release.

Leading the top 50 web properties is Yahoo with 131,392,000 unique visitors in April 2007. Runner up is the Time Warner Network with 124,443,000 unique visitors and only in the third position Google Sites with 119,640,000. Only the platoon comprised of the four top online properties has drawn in traffic over the 100,000,000 visitors milestone. Fox Interactive Media in fifth position accounted for 80,789,000 unique visitors.

A potential Yahoo acquisition by Microsoft, in the light of the recent speculations following Google's takeover of DoubleClick, would - according to the comScore figures - give the Redmond Company an incredible advance over the Mountain View search giant in terms of eyeballs.
