A new service that brings Yahoo in the spotlights

It's obvious that Yahoo needs an urgent shock to revamp the company, a statement sustained by many facts, especially from the internal memo that was wrote by a Yahoo executive.

So, it seems like Yahoo tries to attract consumers with new releases that are meant to be very competitive with its rival's products.

After Google announced that they would shut down Google Answers, Yahoo tried to lure Google's researches and ex-users of the service to register for Yahoo Answers. That's why the company created a special group for these people, entitled Yahoo! Group for former Google Answers Researchers.

Today, it looks like Yahoo launched a new service, entitled Mixd, but Yahoo didn't make any official announcement. What's Mixd? The company gives us the answer: "Mixd is about going out. Coordinate last-minute meetups, share pictures and videos from your phone, and remember last night on a website we create for you, automatically.

How? Mixd is group texting and photo & video sharing. No downloads or installs required. Just text 445566 and you're off and running."

The service is available only for US phone numbers and the fees will apply only for regular messages. "You can use any phone that supports text messaging to use Mixd. You must also be on a supported carrier. Only people who either know your mobile number, or have been in a Mixer with you before can contact you through Mixd. Mixd will never display your mobile number to other users." Yahoo added.
