After recently launching desktop search and following Google's steps, this new service, Y!Q service to be more precise, offers "contextual" search that analyzes the page being read and gives a list of related search results.

You no longer have to enter your query into a search field; the user can generate a search while reading a specific page. He only has to highlight the key words and find related stories.

The company, which has released the service in a test format, said it is making the coding available to Web designers to embed in their sites, so that the tool can search their pages. The service is also available as a toolbar that people can download and integrate into their browsers and it will also be in its news site.

The competition between Google, Yahoo and MSN is heating up every day as all three launch new services, final or beta, online or offline. The desktop search became an option thanks to Google and Yahoo didn't wait too long before launching its own similar application. MSN is replacing Yahoo's search technology with its own system. There are also Amazon's incorporating digital photos into the yellow-pages portion of its A9.com search site.

Should Yahoo allow Web site administrators to use Y!Q to run targeted advertising on their websites, the new product could compete with Google's AdSense program, which pays all sites hosting Google ads and attract Internet surfers who click on the ads.
