A green one!

The Sunnyvale company Yahoo debuted a new campaign entitled "Be a Better Planet" that has some interesting prizes for the winners of the competition. Basically, the campaign is meant to fight for the protection of the nature and the climate but it is entirely based on the solutions powered by Yahoo. Let me present you the procedure of the contest: first, you're required to visit Yahoo Green and sign for the reducing of the carbon emissions. Then, you're encouraged to join the Yahoo Answers conversations and present your opinions about the environmental problems. The last step is to "proactively look for opportunities to live a greener life by performing "green" searches on Yahoo! OneSearch," as Anne Edwards from Yahoo Search said today.

According to Yahoo "based on the total number of points earned for each green action, participants will receive a free energy-efficient compact fluorescent light bulb and contribute to their hometown's overall ranking for a chance to win a fleet of hybrid taxis for their entire city." The giant portal Yahoo also created a special page for the campaign, allowing you to join the contest and find out more information. All you need to do is to complete any of the three steps mentioned above and you'll receive a compact fluorescent light bulb.

It's very hard to say if the Yahoo campaign has the potential to become efficient and really reduce the gas emissions. However, the "Be a Better Planer" campaign will surely improve the company's image and bring some new praises to the giant portal. Meanwhile, Google is probably struggling to bring the spotlights on the Mountain View company and present a similar campaign to fight for a social cause. Maybe it would be a good idea to join forces with Yahoo and try to promote the same cause...
