The Sunnyvale company Yahoo wants to conquer the Asian market but China proved us several times that it is not welcomed in the country. However, the giant portal keeps trying to expand its services into China although the local market seems to be quite inaccessible for the Sunnyvale company. According to Pacific Epoch, Yahoo is now banned in China but there is no official confirmation from the parent company.

"China's net censors may have reached a new low (or high) - Yahoo is inaccessible in China. Not sure if it is a technical problem on the part of Yahoo or if it is really being blocked, but the site appears to be working in the US while it is definitely not working in Shanghai. This comes just a few weeks after Flickr was blocked, Blogger and Typepad were reblocked and Wikipedia and Technorati were unblocked," the same source reported.

However, until there is no official confirmation of the ban, we can talk about a potential restriction over the Yahoo solutions. A comment to the Pacific Epoch seems to confirm the speculations.

"I confirm that Yahoo is blocked in Beijing as of yesterday. Cannot access is from my private laptop in my apartment using a Chinese ISP. However from my office (via secure corporate network)there are no problems accessing it," a user said.

In the past, there were several problems that made us think that a certain Internet giant is banned in a whole country. Take the example of YouTube and Thailand, the nation that was involved in an important dispute with the Mountain View company after the users uploaded insulting clips on the official page of the service.

After several weeks of unavailability, the ban was removed but the authorities refused to comment on the case. The Thai official sustained that YouTube was inaccessible in the country because it was only a server glitch that caused the problems.
