At this moment, Yahoo Messenger is surely the most popular instant messaging client with millions of users in the entire world. The application provided by the giant portal is more than a simple instant messaging client because it provides powerful functions to enhance the chatting experience such as VoIP features, webcam support, emoticons, audibles or offline messages. There are a lot of other companies that are looking to challenge Yahoo Messenger with their instant messaging clients including Microsoft's Live Messenger or Google's Talk, but Yahoo is continuously developing its solution so it's hard to believe that Messenger will be dethroned soon.

As you might know, Yahoo Messenger is accessible on multiple platforms such as Windows, Linux, Mac OSX but also on handheld devices. Because the company wants to expand the power of the Yahoo Messenger instant messaging client on multiple systems, Yahoo now aims to provide the application as a part of an Indian mobile operator. The giant portal wants to make a partnership with Reliance Communications to provide Indian Yahoo Messenger as a Java application included on the devices connected to this network.

"Reliance Communications and Yahoo! India have come together to offer Yahoo! Instant Messenger for Reliance Mobile customers across India. The alliance will offer the Instant Messenger (IM) PC experience on Reliance Mobile phones. Reliance Communications is the first telecom service provider in the world to offer Mobile IM across Java, BREW and WAP phones on a mobile operator network. Mobile IM will allow Reliance Mobile customers to chat live with other Reliance customers, as well as any Yahoo! IM user in the world who's using a PC," Express Computer reported.

Yahoo Messenger for PC was also tested by Softpedia and is available as a free download on this link.
