2013 crowns the Apple iPhone as the device most Yahoo users searched for

While Yahoo may not exactly be the top of the list search engine for most Internet users, it still gets a fair amount of traffic each day, ranking pretty high in comparison with other similar tools. Aside from Google, of course.

Well, this year, Yahoo’s most searched for tech term is “Apple iPhone.” Given this fall’s releases, but also the long anticipation and the rumors ahead of the launch, it’s not surprising that the smartphone was the most common search for item.

“Amazon Kindle” came in second in Yahoo’s list, although there’s no indication whether users were looking for the company’s e-readers or the tablets. “Samsung Galaxy” was the third most looked for term on Yahoo’s search engine, once more without an indication about which version users were most interested in, although I’m willing to bet it’s the latest S4.

Apple makes another appearance on the list, with Yahoo users being interested in the company’s famous tablet, the iPad. “Sony PlayStation 4” came in on the fifth place, while “Microsoft Xbox One” came in next, wrapping up the presence of gamers in the list.

Somewhat surprisingly, “BlackBerry” also made it on the list, the term ranking up on the seventh place. Apple shows up yet again on the list, this time thanks to the iPod.

The Nokia Lumia phone series was also quite popular, ending up on the next before last spot on Yahoo’s top ten. The last spot goes to Sony’s Xperia smartphones.

Given that today is this year’s Black Friday, it’s possible that the end-day sales will also indicate rather similar rankings of interest among those looking for the best discount prices for the year’s hottest tech releases.

Yahoo accounts for 11.1 percent of all search queries in October, down from the 11.3 percent it had in September and the 11.4 percent in August.
