Not too many compatible functions

Some time ago, Yahoo added interoperability between Yahoo Messenger and Windows Live Messenger, the instant messaging application powered by the Redmond-based company Microsoft. Since these are the two most popular chat networks, the compatibility is quite useful as it joins numerous consumers from all around the world. If you didn't know, you can talk with a Yahoo Messenger user from your Windows Live client by typing the entire email address ending in Yahoo.com. But don't be so happy because you're not able to use too many functions between the two clients.

The Sunnyvale company Yahoo sustains that you're able to use only the basic instant messaging functions such as sending messages and emoticons. In addition, you can 'Buzz' (on 'Nudge' for the Windows Live Messenger users) your friend. At this time, there is no file transfer support, photo sharing functions or VoIP capabilities.

"But for now, you can't send files, photo share, play games, send IMVs, use plug-ins, use voice or have a voice conference with Windows Live users. Nor will Windows Live Messenger users see your avatar or Display Image. These features may appear in the future, but for now they're only available to Yahoo! Messenger users. Yahoo! Messenger-fun, feature-packed, and free!" Yahoo explained the interoperability.

Yahoo is continuously struggling to improve the instant messaging application by bundling new features and functions every once in a while. For example, Yahoo rolled out today the second beta of Yahoo Messenger for Mac that comes with most of the abilities existent in the Windows version straight on the Apple systems.

But that's not all. The super giant Yahoo recently introduced Messenger into the interface of the new mail technology, allowing the users to communicate with their friends straight from the mail service. In addition, the company also improved the web-messenger so you're now able to chat on the Internet in multiple ways.
