Help the giant portal develop the next version of the program

Although Yahoo Messenger is available for several platforms, it is often described as an application compatible with the Windows operating system. However, the Mac OS X fans are not neglected by the Sunnyvale company that developed a special version of the instant messaging client to work on Apple's system. The current releases are somehow disappointing because there is no eye-candy interface, no fancy functions, no nothing. Some time ago, Yahoo rolled out a beta version of Yahoo Messenger for Mac that might change our vision about this special flavor of the program.

Today, Yahoo demands our help to release a new version of Messenger for Mac OS X and requires us to answer a short survey concerning the application. Basically, you asked to choose either you want to use Yahoo Messenger for Mac sooner but without support for older releases than 10.4+ Tiger or you want to wait a little bit longer until the program offers support for most versions of Mac OS X.

Numerous visitors of The Unofficial Apple Weblog posted comments to express their disappointment concerning the Mac versions of Yahoo Messenger and, instead of a new version, they would like enhanced support for other applications. For example, a user requires compatibility with Adium while another requires iChat integration.

"Just make integration with iChat seamless(er?)... I hate installing anything Yahoo on my system. It seems to inevitably take over more than I want. Like some sort of parasite. And it's the same for Windows (used to use) and Mac (used for a year now). I tried to get a TV listing widget, but it wasn't a widget. It was a "Yahoo! Widget"!" a user said.

However, the second answer at Yahoo's pool is somehow useless because all the Apple fans are waiting for Leopard, the long-expected version of Mac OS X. Since most of the users are planning to upgrade to this latest release, is it worth to create support for older versions of the systems?
