... Photos

Some time ago, Yahoo made what it seems to be an obvious move: it announced that it closes Yahoo Photos in order to remain focused on Flickr, a recently acquired photo sharing service that has almost the same features as this product. Because of that, all the users of Yahoo Photos must migrate to another photo sharing platform until September 20th, the date when the service is officially closed. A few days ago, the Sunnyvale company decided to remind the users that Yahoo Photos will be closed and placed a message straight on the main page of the service.

"Yahoo! Photos is closing Sept. 20th. You may move your photos to another service, download them back to your computer, or buy an archive CD," the message reads. Clicking on the Learn more link redirects you to a huge help manual that contains all the information about the closure and the migration to another photo sharing service.

"For some time now we've supported two great photo sharing services, Yahoo! Photos and Flickr. But even good things come to an end, and we've decided to focus all our efforts on Flickr - the award winning photo sharing site that Time Magazine has even called "completely addictive," the Sunnyvale company tries to explain the closure reasons.

As you might know, Yahoo closed several services in a short period of time, every closure having its own reason. If Yahoo Photos was closed due to the migration to Flickr, Yahoo also announced that certain sides of the Auctions site will be closed but no explanation was provided.

Some of the users might find those closures annoying and may start looking for another solution to fit their needs. However, the Yahoo Photos technology is replaced by one of the most powerful photo sharing services on the market so most consumers will probably accept the Yahoo migration.
