To be integrated into Flickr

The one who says Flickr is not the best photo-sharing service on the web might be wrong. Although I'm not a huge fan of the product, I must admit that Flickr has always been one of the top technologies on the web because it is pretty similar to YouTube with only one difference: it is focused on photos and not on videos. Since the Flickr community is huge, the users are continuously requiring new features and functions to work with their photos. And Yahoo wants to give them the best they can get: multiple photo editing utilities which would allow the registered members to edit their pictures straight from the window of their browser.

The tools will be provided by Picnik, a company which is already involved into web-based photo editing but never partnered with an Internet giant to implement its technologies into another service. The folks from Picnik already confirmed the deal but no financial terms were disclosed. Still waiting for an official statement from Yahoo.

"Picnik has teamed up with Flickr to bring photo editing awesomeness to all Flickr users. Both companies are working very hard to make this the tightest, smoothest integration possible. Whether you're a Flickrite, Picniker, or both, you'll feel right at home. We're absolutely thrilled. And we think Flickr users will be, too," a message posted on the official Picnik blog reads. "We'll post more as our collaboration with the Flickr team moves forward."

At this time, there is not much editing that can be applied on the Flickr photos because the Yahoo photo sharing service provides only one function: editing. Picnik will bring lots of features to Flickr and according to Michael Arrington from TechCrunch the consumers will be able to add the modified pic in their Flickr account and even replace the selected image if they are pro users.
