By means of web-emulators

The search engines are now taking the concept of search to the next level. After video search, "deep web" search, and so on, the major players in this field have come up with a solution to address the needs of the ever increasing market of web-friendly cell phones.

This solution, the SMS search, has already been introduced by two of the most important search engines, Yahoo! and Google. For example, Yahoo! just recently announced their Yahoo! Search through mobile SMS services, which allows the user to conduct searches on the Yahoo! search engine using a normal mobile phone. Google SMS has been providing something similar using the Google Search Engine since many months now, as reported by Search Engine Watch.

However, after Yahoo! declared the arrival of their rival service, Google has taken a very important and interesting step, by releasing their SMS services out of their Labs. Nevertheless, The Google SMS service continues to remain in beta however. The move is specifically interesting considering it comes just after the launch of the similar service from the competition

In any case, it's very difficult to imagine how such a search service would look like, and that is why the two companies have released web-emulators in order to offer a preview of things to come. However, while neither emulator is fully functional, if you'll test them you'll probably get a pretty good overview of the future in this area.
