14 DAY TRIAL // After a fierce backlash from the community, Destiny developer Bungie confirms that it's extended the presence of Xur, Agent of the Nine, in the game's Tower zone until later today, December 29, at 10pm PST, so that those who haven't been able to access the online game due to the PlayStation Network and Xbox Live outages can still interact with the merchant.
Destiny has been around for a few months now and every weekend the developer has offered fans the chance to interact with a mysterious non-playable character called Xur, which offers players different exotic-level weapons, armor, or gear in exchange for Strange Coins or Motes of Light.
Unfortunately for fans, the last scheduled weekend for Xur hasn't been the best one, as due to ongoing outages that have affected both the PlayStation Network and the Xbox Live online services, people haven’t been able to play Destiny.
Xur is spending more time in Destiny's Tower
After plenty of pleas and demands from its community, Bungie confirms on its forums that it's extended the time spent by Xur in the Tower until later today. As such, you can still find the mysterious merchant until Monday, December 29, at 10pm PST.
What's more, depending on the situation, Bungie leaves the door open for another extension, depending on whether or not people are able to access PSN or Xbox Live and play Destiny on their consoles.
"We understand that Xur has been hard to reach for a lot of you this weekend, so we’re going to extend his stay. Our current plan is to allow him to remain in the Tower with his current inventory until Monday night at 10pm PST, just before the weekly reset. We’ll also keep an eye on the overall situation, and prolong the extension, as needed, for as long as is feasible. Next week, Xur will return to his regular schedule, with refreshed inventory," Bungie Community Manager David Dague tells fans.
As of right now, both Xbox Live and the PlayStation Network appear to be working, so you might want to access Destiny and find Xur in the Tower sooner rather than later, in order to score your exclusive gear.
