Since it would seem that nobody is capable of finding directions without the aid of a GPS navigation device these days, there's an abundance of such products available in stores, a large number coming from startups who consider that there's just about enough room for everybody on the market (although the truth is rather different). And a very good example is the latest announcement from PND manufacturer Xroad, namely the V4150, a GPS navigator that offers quite an OK price-per-features ratio.

The display is one of the most important components of any PND, and this is the reason why the V4150 has been equipped with 4.3-inch digital TFT LCD touch-screen display, specially treated against sun-glare. Furthermore, the LCD has a brightness level of 350 cd, a display resolution of 480 x 272 pixels, 16.7 million colors and a display size of 95.04 x 53.85 mm.

The device is powered by a Samsung S3C2440/400Mhz processor, which is used for running both the Microsoft WinCE.Net Core Version 5.0 operating system and the navigation software. And since we're on this subject, it's also worth mentioning the fact that the V4150 has been equipped with a SirfStar III GPS chipset, WAAS-enabled for enhanced positioning accuracy.

Xroad's V4150 relies on SD memory cards (128MB, 256MB, 512MB, 1GB, 2GB) for storage and provides a normal range of connectivity options for such products, including here USB 1.1, a TMC connection port, an ear-jack interface, etc. Furthermore, the V4150 also incorporates a Bluetooth module, compliant with the V2.0 EDR specification, which allows it to work with stereo headphones or to double as a hands free system.

The PND is gets all its necessary power from a 2100mA Li-Polymer battery, and, like most products of this type, it's very portable, measuring around 26cm x 147cm x 83cm, at a weight of 285 grams. Furthermore, it's quite affordable, since it's available at several retailers for under 300 US dollars, quite an OK price, taking into account the set of provided features.
